Abstract
Almost toric fibrations of toric symplectic manifolds have recently been applied to symplectic embedding problems, yielding new results or simplifying previous proofs. Among the results are optimal ellipsoid embeddings, the existence of many non-isotopic embeddings of cubes, a new quantification of the non-squeezing theorem, new Lagrangian barriers, and obstructions to the existence of certain singularities in degenerations.
After a very informal introduction to almost toric fibrations, I will describe a few of these applications. The talk is based on work of many people (more than twenty, see the talk…).
