Abstract
In this talk we give an introduction to the topic in chromatic homotopy referred to as ambidexterity. We focus on the classical results of Greenlees-Sadofsky and Hovey-Sadofsky implying that the norm map for a spectrum with a finite group action is a K(n)-local equivalence, where K(n) denotes Morava K-theory. Depending on the content of the other talks of the summer school, and if time permits, we might discuss various generalisations and applications of this result.
