Postdoc day, Seminar 3: Equivariant algebraic K-theory and multiplicative norms

Date: 2022-02-18

Time: 15:10 - 15:40

Speaker

Kaif Hilman

Abstract

Algebraic K-theory is a powerful and highly structured invariant of stable categories. A rich source of examples comes from stable categories equipped with a symmetry by a finite group G. In this talk, we will discuss when such algebraic K-theories admit the subtle structure of G-equivariant power operations or “multiplicative norms.” These extra structures were most famously used by Hill, Hopkins, and Ravenel in their resolution of the Kervaire invariant one problem, and should be of great interest in the study of K-theory.
