Abstract

The Vicsek-BGK equation describes the collective motion of
agents with local alignment. It is known that the spatially homogeneous
model undergoes a phase transition from disoriented motion to collective
motion. In this work, we show the onset of a novel secondary phase
transition from hypocoercive to unstable dynamics in the spatially
inhomogeneous problem. Joint work with Sara Merino Aceituno and
